The sixth and final season of Better Call Saul will be released in two parts
Much like its parent show Breaking Bad, the sublime series Better Call Saul will conclude with a two-part final season, breaking its last 13 episodes into two nicely chunky chunks of seven and six episodes respectively.
Stan subscribers can watch Better Call Saul season six from April 19—the same day as the US—when Jimmy McGill’s last stand premieres with two back-to-back episodes. It’s what he deserves, after all his agonising evolution into the slimy Saul Goodman.
Since the last season of Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk has been a busy guy: getting buff for Nobody, showing up in I Think You Should Leave, and, most intensely of all, recovering from a heart attack.
Stan’s official description of the new season sounds quite heartbreaking: “From the cartel to the courthouse, from Albuquerque to Omaha, season six tracks Jimmy, Saul and Gene as well as Jimmy’s complex relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn, above), who is in the midst of her own existential crisis.” The promise of an ending for ‘Gene’, the depressing present-day identity of our lead character! And for poor Kim, who’s really too good for all of the corruption she has to face.
“Meanwhile, Mike and Gus (Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito, below), Nacho (Michael Mando) and Lalo (Tony Dalton) are locked into a game of cat and mouse with mortal stakes.” Look at those mugs: they’re definitely facing some mortal stakes, alright, and if you’ve seen Breaking Bad you’ll know it’s not the last time.
At least devotees of this celebrated series are getting a double shot reintroduction, when April 19 brings two new episodes of the final season onto Stan. Like poor Jimmy/Saul/Gene, all we can do is tread hopelessly towards our destiny…a destiny as mid-level manager of a black-and-white mall Cinnabon.
