The third season of acclaimed Aussie dramedy Bump is now streaming
If you’ve been hanging out to spend some time with Australia’s favourite blended (and we mean like a milkshake) family, we have some great news for you: teen pregnancy dramedy Bump season three is now streaming on Stan.
But we also have some surprises.
For those who aren’t across this absolute gem of a series, Bump kicked off back in 2021, taking us into Sydney’s vibrant Inner West to tell the tale of Olympia ‘Oly’ Davis-Chalmers (Nathalie Morris), an ambitious, academically gifted teenager whose plans for the future were sidelined when she unexpectedly gave birth in a school bathroom. Further complicating matters is the fact that the father was not her then-boyfriend, Lachie (Peter Thurnwald) but rather hunky Santiago “Santi” Hernandez (Carlos Sanson Jr). The series then followed Oly, Santi, and their families and friends, including Oly’s parents Angie (Claudia Karvan, who co-created the series with Kelsey Munro) and Dom (Angus Sampson), as they wrestled with the new normal.
Season three sees us jump forward five years, with little Jacinda (Ava Cannon) no longer a pink puddle of cute gurgles but about to set off on her first day of school. Oly and Santi are exploring romance elsewhere, with the former hooking up with her uni tutor Michael (Harry Greenwood) and the latter dating newcomer Keeks (Ana Ika) but worrying about introducing her to Oly and the rest of the fam. And Angie, now recovered from cancer, has her own deal going on that frankly would take paragraphs to map out—it seems everyone in the ensemble has doubled down on drama this season.
Bump is one of the best Australian series to come along in years, marrying sharp humour to warm characterisations and an admirably unsentimental approach to its complex subject matter. If you haven’t checked it out yet, now’s the perfect time—but you better hurry in case they jump another five years when we’re not paying attention.
