Full trailer and release date for GOT prequel series House Of The Dragon
Those dragons are swift but silent, hey? Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon has really snuck up on us, all set to hit HBO streaming screens on August 22.
Set 200 years before Mother of Dragons Daenerys attempted an almighty Targaryen coup for the Iron Throne, the epic (and epically expensive) series House of the Dragon commences on BINGE and Foxtel Now on August 22.
To mark the show’s release, Foxtel Now has a special offer: between August 15 and 31, new customers who sign up here will receive all Foxtel Now packs for just $25 (usually it’s $104) for the first 3 months. That’s 77 channels of drama, lifestyle, sport, movies, reality, news, kids and docos, with no lock in contracts.
Check out the official, full-length HotD trailer below, which reveals even more of the pre-GOT Westeros.
George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood spin-off series tells of a bloody civil war between the Targaryens, Dany’s emotionally unpredictable ancestors. We’re seeing the beginnings of it with this tantalising teaser footage, King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) urging that he “will not be made to choose between my brother and my daughter.”
Both his petulant warrior brother Daemon (Matt Smith, wearing some funky big-eared armor) and eldest daughter Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) have their supporters, enemies and potential love interests—sometimes all wrapped up into one—but whoever wields the power of the dynasty’s dragons might have the upper hand at the end of the season. The dragons look bloody great too, wheeling in the skies and nuzzling up for a pat!
“Knives will come out”, Eve Best worries as the king’s formidable cousin Rhaenys, continuing right to Rhaenyra’s face that “a woman will not inherit the Iron Throne, because that is the order of things.” She should know, as her grandfather passed her over to rule in favour of Viserys back in the Council of 101.
If we learned anything from Thrones and Daenerys’ botched attempt at snatching back the kingdom, it’s that these Targaryen ladies don’t especially like following established orders. “When I am queen I will create a new order”, Rhaenyra confidently asserts. Could one of the court’s key players, Lady Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) stand in her way, or will they team up to take down the boys’ club?
It’ll be too hard to say until when we get a proper look at the new order of things in House of the Dragon. Rawr.
