Trailer and release date for Stan’s free-spirited Punky Brewster reboot
Back in 1984, Soleil Moon Frye first put the ‘Punky’ in ‘sPunky young foster child’, playing the title role in a family sitcom all about girlhood, friendship and making one’s own way in a big city.
And now, all these years later, the iconic child star of Punky Brewster is playing the mother to a new crew of child talent. It’s the Punky Brewster reboot, coming exclusively to Stan on Feburary 26.
Happily, most of the surviving cast of the OG Punky Brewster will return for this sweet sequel series; alongside Moon Frye, Punky’s best friend Cherie will again be portrayed by Cherie Johnson.
And as an unprecedented extra bonus hit of nostalgia, Freddie Prinze Jr. will appear as Punky’s ex-husband Travis. If you’re a fan of 80s wholesome family entertainment, you owe it to yourself to check out the trailer below.
Airing on Stan at the same time as in the United States, Punky Brewster will kick off on February 26, with all episodes of the first season available in one binge-able chunk. And why not follow it up with the Saved By The Bell sequel series, also available on Stan, as a double-hit of late 20th-century nostalgic magic?
