Where to watch the Rocky movies in Australia
Sylvester Stallone had to fight, onscreen and off, to make the Rocky series the beloved classics they are today. As we found out from a recent Flicks experiment, chugging eggs and running a bunch hurts, even without having to pawn your beloved pet dog for cash and battle Hollywood execs in order to star in the greatest underdog Oscar Best Picture win of all time.
But sadly for Aussie viewers, it’s been a battle off-screen too, to stream any of the films in Sly’s iconic franchise. They’ve only been available on demand via Google Play, Apple TV, and the Prime Video store…until now. From January 2023, every film in the Rocky franchise arrives on Prime Video Australia, a knockout way to watch the original underdog saga.
If you’re keen to throw on a robe and binge the original Rocky, and the increasingly outlandish sequels Rocky II (the one where Rocky blows all his dosh and wins) and III (the one with Mr T), they’re streaming as part of your Prime subscription from January 6.
IV (the one where Rocky tears down the Iron Curtain) and V (the one where he first takes to training younger talent) drop on January 13, along with the bittersweet 2006 comeback Rocky Balboa.
Finally, just a few days later, Ryan Coogler’s celebrated sequel franchise Creed and its sequel Creed II will call Prime Video home on January 20. These fresh modern entries to the series cast Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed, who finds an unlikely mentor in an ailing Rocky.
Australian Rocky fans have faced a Cinderella story for the ages when it comes to streaming the entire beloved franchise, so the arrival of every film in the series—let alone gathered neatly in the one place!—feels like a grand sporting victory. And nobody knows about those more than the Italian Stallion himself. Lace up your gloves and get into it.
