In select cinemas nationwide from July 13, Carmen is a gritty modern-day retelling of the tragic opera, and we’re collaborating with Madman Entertainment to give 10 lucky winners double passes to see it in theatres.
Expressed through sumptuous musical sequences, the directorial debut of choreographer Benjamin Millepied stars In The Heights and Scream VI lead Melissa Barrera and Oscar-nominated actor Paul Mescal as lovers on the run.
Synopsis: Carmen, a captivating and determined young woman, leaves her family and community behind to escape a brutal Mexican cartel. Grief-stricken following the death of her mother, she attempts a dangerous and illegal border crossing to the U.S., but is ambushed by a fierce volunteer border patrol who tries to kill her. Shocked by the violence, a fellow patrol member, returned soldier Aidan, saves Carmen and helps her escape. Aidan is now also on the run, and as the pair travel north, Aidan finds himself drawn to Carmen’s passion, free spirit and will to fight for freedom. They know there is no turning back.
