Chishû Ryû

Three years before 1953's Tokyo Story, filmmaker Yasujirō Ozu constructed this elaborate drama about a complex love triangle.

German director Wim Wenders made this documentary in which he tries to explore the Tokyo that was depicted in the films of Yasujiro Ozu. When Wenders visits Tokyo for the first time, he finds a very different city, one with a booming fascination with technology that often clashes with the traditional elements of Japanese culture. Wenders also interviews Ozu's cinematographer, Yuharu Atsuta, and Chishu Ryu, an actor who frequently collaborated with Ozu.

A collection of magical tales based upon the actual dreams of director Akira Kurosawa, nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 1991 Golden Globes.

Yasujiro Ozu's Tokyo Story centers on an aging couple who travel from Japan to Tokyo, to visit their children. Widely regarding as Ozu's masterpiece. In 2012 it was voted the best film of all time by Sight & Sound magazine.
