Melissa Etheridge

Five female residents from the Topeka Correctional Facility write letters to musician Melissa Etheridge, who uses their letters as inspiration to create and perform an original song for them. 

Janis Joplin's evolution into a star is chronicled in this documentary drawing upon her letters to friends, family and peers. Narrated by Cat Power and directed by Amy Berg (West of Memphis).
