Ben (Nicolas Cage, Pig), an alcoholic screenwriter, travels to Las Vegas planning to drink himself to death. Once there he forms an uneasy relationship with prostitute Sera (Elisabeth Shue, Death Wish).

Romance following the relationship between a manic depressive (Richard Gere), and the female doctor (Lena Olin) who takes more than a professional interest in his treatment.
